Dean Cardinale - Owner / Guide
Dean Cardinale is the owner of World Wide Trekking and the President and Founder of HOP. Dean has climbed and led guided expeditions in North and Central America, Africa, South America and the Himalayas. He is the President of Wasatch Backcountry Rescue group, the
US representative to the International Commission of Alpine Rescue (IKAR), an avalanche instructor with the American Avalanche Association, and the Ski Patrol Director for Snowbird Ski Resort. Dean is currently working on a seven summits bid, summiting Mt Everest in 2005. Dean has taught all people of all ages and professions, and is well known for his professional ethics and conduct evident in all of his pursuits. Dean has a long-standing record of leadership, program development, and community service.

Jake Hutchinson
Jake Hutchinson is the former Director of Ski Patrol and Snow Safety at Canyons Mountain Resort in Park City, UT. He is the Vice President of Wasatch Backcountry Rescue. Jake is Level 3 Avalanche certified and is an AAA certified instructor. He is a lead instructor for the American Avalanche Institute and has been teaching courses since 1997. His climbing and ski mountaineering passion has led him to ascents and descents in the Alaska Range, Cascades, Tetons, Wind Rivers, Sierras and the French/Swiss Alps, including multiple ascents of Denali, a first ascent in the Alaska Range and one day speed climbs on both the Grand Teton and Mt Rainier. In the summer Jake spends time exploring old roads and trails in the desert southwest on motorcycle, fly fishing and mountain biking and climbing.

Eric Garza - Guide
Eric Garza is an adventurer and father of three. Eric lives in Boulder Colorado, loves the outdoors enjoys mountaineering, climbing rock and ice, kayaking, running, and is an avid photographer. Eric has been climbing mountains from the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley standing at 20,320 ft. to Mt. Everest in the Himalayas rising 29,035 ft. One of a four person team comprised of three men and one woman to summit Mt. Everest in 2005. The team Led from camp IV at 26,000’ fixing ropes to the summit following a harsh year with the jet stream that had kept any team from the summit. After 70 days of climbing the team reached the summit opening the way for several teams four days before the end of the season. Eric leads WORLD WIDE TREKKING group trips in Nepal, Africa and Peru.
Gale Dahlager - Guide / Adventure Travel Specialist
Gale Dahlager spent over a decade racing downhill mountain bikes at the pro level, and a few years as a skier-cross/extreme skiing competitor, traveling the world as a sponsored athlete. After making the US downhill bike team in ’03 and ’04, she retired from competitive biking to spend more time rock climbing, back country skiing and mountaineering. Gale has worked as a bike coach and guide in many places around North America, and continues to travel as much as possible for climbing, skiing, trekking, and mountaineering adventures. She has her International Mountain bike Instructor Certification (IMIC) – Coaches Instructor, Wilderness EMT, Wilderness First Responder, Avalanche Level 2, and High Angle Rescue certifications. Gale works in the World Wide Trekking office as an Adventure Travel Specialist, helping out with the many tasks involved with the company’s trips, and as a guide on some of our treks.
Michael Morris - Guide
Michael Morris Is the Assistant Ski Patrol Director at Snowbird UT a member of the Wasatch Backcountry Rescue and has guided Himalayan Treks and climbs in the Nepalese and Tibetan regions over the past 12 years. He has also spent 17 seasons guiding 8-14 day trips down the Grand Canyon. Mike holds EMT and Avi Level 3 certification, as well as a BA in Economics. When he is not busy guiding and keeping the slopes safe, he enjoys rock climbing of all types, white water boating, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and playing with his son Max and daughter Olive.
Craig Lutke - Guide
Craig Lutke has been guiding since 1993. During the winter months, Craig works as the Director of Ski Patrol at Sundance Ski Resort in Northern Utah. Since 1999, Craig has been complimenting the summer/winter seasons by guiding and consulting on multiple Kilimanjaro climbs. In his personal time Craig enjoys teaching Avalanche Awareness, Outdoor Emergency Care and Swiftwater Rescue classes. He resides in Utah with his wife Amber, where they pursue their passion for horses, skiing, snowmobiling, and hiking out of their own back door. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.

Geljen Sherpa - Guide
Geljen helps organize the expeditions for WORLD WIDE TREKKING in Nepal. Geljen has organized everything from Khumbu treks to expeditions to the top of the world. Geljen Sherpa is an Everest summiter and understands the demands of hard work, perseverance and teamwork. Geljen has been instrumental in establishing contacts for the Himalayan Children’s Foundation as well as family members of children in remote villages in the Himalayas for HOP. Geljen helps us organize all of our Asian operations groups treks, mountain climbs and private trips.
Africa Local Guides
Raymond Massae - Guide
Raymond Massae is our local representative and works alongside WORLD WIDE TREKKING to make sure things in Africa run smoothly. Ray is a professional educator and integral leader of our efforts in Africa, with nearly 10 years of experience in the African tourism industry. Working together in-country to organize all local endeavors, oversee operational and logistical details, and mentor the African staff. Raymond is a member of the governing board of HOP, and plays a critical role in guiding HOP community service by identifying the greatest needs in areas surrounding expedition sites, facilitating and nurturing the partnerships between HOP and communities, and ensuring efforts are collaborative, capacity-building in nature and culturally appropriate. Raymond holds a Bachelor degree in Education, and uses his expertise and experience to teach African culture and history, and to share the strengths and the challenges of the Tanzanian people. Raymond helps us organize all of our local logistics for groups treks, Safaris and African Adventures.

David Sullivan - Office Manager
David Sullivan is an accomplished professional with more then 20 years experience including banking, sales, economic evaluation, investments, mortgage loans, financial analysis, business, cash flow planning, cost control, budgeting, accounting, and computer software expertise. There is no doubt Dave is a handy guy to have around the office. Growing up in Montana Dave learned to appreciate nature, loves to ski, mountain bike and enjoys the outdoors. David helps us keep all of our office logistics in order.
Dr Phil Levy - Medical Advisor
Dr. Phillip Levy is our medical advisor. He is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University and works clinically at Detroit Receiving Hospital (located in Detroit, Michigan). In addition to being a board certified Emergency Physician, he has a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan and is a co-founder of three not-for-profit organizations (International Society for Emergency Care, Soft Power Health, and EMEDEX International) which work to provide reciprocating educational opportunities and develop self-sustaining medical infrastructure for emerging nations. Dr. Levy serves on the educational committee for the Wilderness Medical Society and is a nationally recognized speaker on travel-related illness. When not at work, he can usually be found in a far off location with his wife (Gina) and their two little world-travelers (Sydney and Hayden).

Sue Goldie - Chairman of the Board, HOP
Sue Goldie is a physician and public health scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health, and serves as chairman of the board of the Human Outreach Project (HOP). She is a Professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, and Director of the Center for Health Decision Science. Sue is a leading figure in the field of public health, well known for her work on critical global health challenges. She is the recipient of a MacArthur award for “genius and creativity” in applying the tools of decision science to combat major public health problems. She has published more than 150 research papers, serves on several international committees that influence health policy, and has received numerous teaching and mentorship awards. She completed her medical residency at Yale, and graduate work at Harvard. Sue is a lifelong martial artist, and loves hiking, skiing, and training her two golden retrievers.
James Farmer - Legal Advisor, HOP Governing Board, HOP Secretary
James R. Farmer is Of Counsel with the Salt Lake City Law Firm Van Cott, where he specializes in commercial litigation and intellectual property law and counsels clients in a wide range of technical disciplines, including aerospace, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. Jim previously held post-doctoral fellowships at Princeton University and Brigham Young University and recently completed a year long sabbatical at NASA Ames Research Center, where he focused on the computer simulations of aerothermodynamic heat loads experienced by planetary entry vehicles, including the Mars science Laboratory and the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle ( the next generation space shuttle) Farmer is on the HOP governing board, is the HOP secretary and renders legal advice for World Wide Treking.
