
Day 1:
Arrive in Tanzania. You will be picked up at the airport and taken to the Arumeru River Lodge. Your guide will brief you on the climb and help you settle in at hotel.
Day 2:
Arusha hotel to Mariakamba Hut: We will set out to Arusha National Park and go to the Mt. Meru gate. We will meet with our game ranger and porters (We will have a ranger with a rifle with us through the jungle) After signing in with the park service we will hike for 3 -4 hours to the Mariakamba Hut at 8500 ft. where you will spend the night.
Day 3:
Mariakamba Hut 8500” to Saddle Hut 11,500’. After breakfast we will spend the morning hiking up to the saddle hut. At the hut we will have some lunch and rest. In the afternoon we can hike up to Little Meru where we will take in views of the climb to the top of Meru, Kilimanjaro and the African plains.
Day 4:
Mt Meru Summit. We will get up at 1:00am and start our summit bid. We will head up pass Rhino point and continue on to the top of Mt. Meru: Socialist Peak. Here we will enjoy the sunrise and spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. After the summit we will decend back down to the Saddle hut to take a break and get our gear together. We will then head back down to the Mariakamba Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5:

Mariakamba Hut – Arusha. After breakfast we will start back down through the jungle. We can view elephants, buffalo, wild bores, monkeys and other wild animals as we head back to the Meru gate. We will then drive back to the Arumeru River Lodge.
* From here we highly recommend adding the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla tracking trip to your journey. It is an incredible experience to see these fascinating creatures up close, something you won't want to miss!
Day 6:
After breakfast you will be taken from the Arumeru River Lodge to airport for international departure, or you can continue on to another World Wide Trekking adventure!
From here, additional Add-On trips may be planned:
* Kilimanjaro climb and African Safari - Journey to the highest point on the African continent (19,340'), traversing through 5 distinct eco changes via the Machame route. Then head out for 4 days of an African safari, seeing animals and meeting people of the local tribes of the region.
* Zanzibar Island in the Indian Ocean - Here you can enjoy exotic Stone Town, a 7th century Persian slave trading port and very Muslim culture. Then head North to Nungwi beach and enjoy crystal clear waters, ancient dowe sailboats, snorkeling, a turtle preserve and white sand beaches before return home.
* Rwanda mountain gorilla tracking. This adventure puts you up close in small groups to families of mountain gorillas from 600lb silverbacks to young offspring upclose. A truly special experience.
